How do you release the factory floor mats in a Mazda CX-5?
There is a twist lock on the driver side. Rotate it until it clears, then lift that corner and draw the mat back out of the footwell. The passenger and rear mats normally lift without a fastener. Reattach whatever goes back in on the same lock. MAXPRO CX-5 liners are shaped to use it, and no liner should ever sit on top of the mat below.

Which Mazdas does MAXPRO cover?
The CX crossovers and nothing else. MAXPRO lists CX-5 for 2017 to 2025, CX-30 for 2020 to 2026, and CX-50 for 2023 to 2026. Mazda3, CX-9, CX-90 and MX-5 owners have nothing here yet. The three that are covered are the ones people actually put wet gear into, which is probably why they came first.

What is the difference between the CX-50 and CX-5 fitments?
More pieces on the CX-50. It gets a floor set, a cargo liner, a seat back liner and the cargo and seat back pair, where CX-5 and CX-30 each have a floor set and a cargo liner. Similar badges, different depth of coverage. MAXPRO does not treat them as the same car and neither should the order.

Will floor mats from an older CX-5 fit a newer one?
Within the 2017 to 2025 range the MAXPRO tray is one fitment, so yes across those years. Outside it, no. This is where people get caught buying used mats online, because a footwell that looks identical in photographs can differ by just enough to leave a corner standing proud. Match the year, not the shape you remember.

Are Mazda Genuine all-weather mats or a custom liner better?
Both are made for the car, so this comes down to how much containment you want and how often the weather actually tests it. The Mazda accessory is a tidy fit sold at the dealer. Do MAXPRO Mazda liners smell when the car heats up?
They should not. MAXPRO chose TPX over PVC partly for that, since it is odor free and does not absorb water or dirt that would go stale later. A car left in summer sun is the honest test of any liner, and cheap recycled rubber is usually the thing you can smell. Rinse yours occasionally and it stays neutral.
